The presentation of the Austrian delegation was delivered on the third day of work of the Ural International Industry and Innovation Exhibition and Forum “Innoprom2011”.
The topic of the presentation – Austria, the Centre of your Economic Activities – was not chosen by accident. Austria has been in active collaboration with the Mid Urals for a long time. Today this hi-tech country can offer a broad range of support for innovations for Russian partners.
According to Peter Loschl, the Director of ABA, in 2010 Austria invested 2.7% of its GDP into R&D and this figure is one of the highest in the European Union. Unique centres for competence (similar to technoparks), connecting educational, scientific, and industrial institutes, as well as industrial clusters were created in Austria the last 10 years. Moreover, governmental programmes for the support of innovations have been running here for a long time, this includes the provision state subsidies. Worthy of attention are both the tax concessions on offer in this country and various R&D support systems.
Interestingly, Russian companies can apply for this kind of assistance. This applies particularly to companies planning to run their business in the federal state of Carinthia that offers to help Russian investors in establishing necessary contacts with both governmental institutions and banks and business structures and any other consultation assistance. As well as Carinthia’s representatives’ off-the-shelf business offers for potential investors Austria is ready to assist in building your own company from scratch. What is interesting is that the procedure of getting a permit for construction in Carinthia takes anything from few hours to one week.
Comprehensive information on cooperation with this country can be obtained from the Ural-Austria Information Centre which has an office in Ekaterinburg on the premises of the Slizov & Partners Legal Bureau. In the words of Konstantin Slizov, a lawyer, a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, “as a lawyer I am astounded by the clarity of legal regulations, the respect to interests of businesses and private individuals in Austria. Many years of business cooperation between the Sverdlovsk Oblast and this country is a good evidence of for it.”
