The 4th INNOPROM Industrial Trade Fair was held from July 11th to 14th, 2013 in the Ekaterinburg-Expo International Exhibition Center in Ekaterinburg. During the course of four days, more than 53,000 people visited the fair, and delegations from 70 countries around the world arrived to participate in the fair and business program.
More than 550 companies participated in the fair as exhibiters, including some of the largest in Russia (Uralvagonzavod, the Russian Copper Company, Lukoil, Sberbank, Rostelecom, the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, Renova, Sinara, the Pipe Metallurgical Company, NLMK, EXIAR, etc.) and in the entire world (DuPont, Schneider Electric, Siempelkamp, Philips, SIKA, KNAUF, RITTAL, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, ABB, EATON, ALSTOM, Phoenix Contact, DMG, Caterpillar, etc.).
It is important to note that the number of foreign companies participating in the fair grew significantly compared to 2012, and reached a quarter of the total companies.
The global perspective reflected in the theme of INNOPROM 2013 characterized not only the fair, but also the business program: more than 150 events were held, including dozens of international conferences (China, Latin America, the Arab world, Canada, Japan, etc.), round tables, and forums.
The main themes of the fair this year were machine tool building, robotics, professional staff for industry, new visualization technology and industrial design.
It is important to note that the number of professional visitors increased significantly, as the exhibiters and organizers themselves commented.
More than 280 media outlets were accredited to participate in INNOPROM-2013, and more than 1,300 journalists were present at the fair venue. The fair and forum were covered by major Russian information agencies, leading television channels and print publications, including all the main Russian news organizations (Channel One, Russia 24, NTV, Channel Five, Kommersant, Vedomosti, RBC). A twenty-four hour video feed of all the main events of INNOPROM was available.
The main plenary session, the most anticipated event of the previous INNOPROM, brought a real all star cast together; Anatoli Chubais, Chairman of the Board of RUSNANO, Raman Chitkara, Global Technology Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Xiang Bing, Head of the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, the largest business school in China, James Woudhuysen, Professor of forecasting and innovation, De Montfort University, Leicester, Ross Lovegrove, British designer and creator of a range of projects for Renault, Motorola, Apple, and others presented their ideas on how to prevent a recession in global industrial growth.
Another high-profile event was the Technological Breakthroughs: Where and When forecast session, where leading futurists and scientists Michio Kaku, James Woudhuysen and Soumitra Dutta shared their vision of our future with the guests of the fair, and described their model of the world 20 years from now.
One of the most striking INNOPROM events was the plenary session of the 3rd Global Industrial Design Forum; global industrial design stars Ross Lovegrove, Rogier van der Heide and Karim Rashid participated.
The official visit by Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, included a meeting with representatives of the business community, where the participants discussed the development of industry and that creation of high-tech jobs. Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, and Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were also presented at the discussion.
The unique INDUSTRY 4U career guidance and educational program began at the INNOPROM international industrial trade fair. During the four days of the fair, high school, undergraduate and graduate students from the Sverdlovsk Region’s institutions of higher education became familiar with industrial enterprises, learned about what they do and how to begin a career there; over 1,000 students were involved in INDUSTRY 4U.
Another new project at INNOPROM-2013 was the Global Investment Lounge, a unique forum for communication, created to attract investment and host business meetings. More than 100 planned meetings between representatives of Russian and international companies, foreign delegations and government agencies took place in this venue alone.
A new functional service called Technological Tours was also presented at INNOPROM; this service makes it possible to make the best possible use of one’s time at the fair and identify the highest priority partners. Visitors to the fair make their rounds of the exposition along a pre-arranged route, accompanied by a professional guide. 92 tours were conducted during the four days of the Fair and Forum, 47 of which were organized for foreign delegations.
The theme of the next INNOPROM International Industrial Trade Fair, which will be held from July 9th to 12th, 2014, will be “Intelligent Industry: Robotics, Automation, New Materials.”
