Consulate General of the United States in Ekaterinburg has informed Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev about the plans of US Ambassador Michael McFaul to take part in the International Exhibition and Forum “INNORPOM 2012.”
President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia Andrew Sommers is going to attend INNOPROM, too. Large American companies, such as DuPont and 3М, will also take part in the Ural exhibition.
Alexander Kharlov, Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Sverdlovsk Region, states:
“The US Ambassador’s visit is an evidence of strong interest in the exhibition and of good prospects for cooperation between Sverdlovsk Region of the RF and the USA. Today, a few projects with participation of American investors are being implemented in Sverdlovsk Region. The most well-known project is Ural Boeing Manufacturing in Verkhnyaya Salda. Beside that, a powerful manufacturing complex has been set up in Sverdlovsk Region by the Group of companies “Penetron-Russia” that represents the interests of ICS Penetron International. Not long ago, Uralchimplast - SI Group, a joint venture for manufacturing and marketing of synthetic resins was set up at the site of Chemical Park “Tagil” in Nizhny Tagil.
I would like to note that the potential for development of interregional ties between Sverdlovsk Region and the USA is far from being exhausted. Examples of efficient and strong cooperation are obvious, but they are isolated. We hope that negotiations to be held as part of the visit will give birth to new projects.”
The USA has traditionally been a major foreign economic partner of the region. In 2011, the trade turnover reached USD 1.8 billion, and that is the first place on the list of countries that are trade partners of Sverdlovsk Region.
