Prominent inventor, futurologist and research organizer Ray Kurzweil will join Google in order to head its research in machine learning and language processing.
“I've been interested in technology, and machine learning in particular, for a long time. I've always worked to create practical systems that will make a difference in people's lives, which is what excites me as an inventor...” For decades, Professor Kurzweil has been working on training a machine to think and create like man, and he is sure of one thing - “a machine will never outwit man, and one has to use it correctly.”
This topical issue has been covered in the futurologist’s talk given as part of the forecast session of International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM 2012, where Kurzweil was one of its main speakers. His talk was dedicated to the fast integration of technologies into everyday life.
Professor Kurzweil made the following statement regarding his new position, “I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Google to work on some of the hardest problems in computer science so we can turn the next decade’s ‘unrealistic’ visions into reality.”
