On July 10, 2017, INNOPROM-2017 hosted a meeting held as part of the Russia - Korea Industrial Forum, which was attended by George Kalamanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
At the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia commented on the positive trends in bilateral trade exchange between January and April of 2017. He said that Russia was considering the Republic of Korea a strategic partner for innovation development and implementation of high technologies, as well as expansion of mutual investment in priority sectors. He also thanked Korean partners for their decision to participate in the Ninth International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM-2018 as its Partner Country.
George Kalamanov said that the two countries were currently engaged in industrial cooperation on value added projects in Russia and Korea with a significant export potential of launching in third markets.
"We are referring to such important industries as metallurgy, shipbuilding, wood processing and chemicals, machine building, heavy transport and specialized machine building, mining, and certainly mechanical engineering," he explained.
Deputy Minister finds the Industrial Cooperation Committee an essential element in the development of relations between Russia and South Korea.
"The Committee may also become an efficient tool that would facilitate a technological breakthrough by identifying major joint projects in robotics and IT," George Kalamanov summarized.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia met with Park Ro-byug, Ambassador of Korea in the Russian Federation. The parties agreed to extend industrial cooperation. At the end of the meeting, George Kalamanov invited Korean partners to participate in the Thirteenth International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017.
