April 25, 2018. Moscow. On April 23-25, the South Korean delegation visited Ekaterinburg as part of the Partner Country preparations for the International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM-2018. Delegation members included heads of KOTRA and KOAMI departments responsible for organizing Korea's participation in INNOPROM and contractors working in the development of exhibition areas, logistics, and tourism. The delegation visited the sites of the main exhibition events and held several meetings with regional authorities.
For example, on April 24 delegation members met with representatives of the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region and sectoral agencies, including the Ural Customs Office, Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, and Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Korean visitors shared information about their preparations for the exhibition and emphasized that they had already shaped the national display with more than 100 corporate participants which intended to demonstrate their cutting edge industrial equipment and technological innovations, including the universal hydraulic injection machine by Woojin PLAIMM and condensing gas boiler by KD NAVIEN. On behalf of the Korean delegation, Choi Jaehoon, Deputy Director of KOTRA's HQ Exhibition and Convention Department, thanked the Russian side for its assistance and stated that INNOPROM-2018 would become an important platform for the establishment of business contacts to increase bilateral trade turnover.
According to INNOPROM.View, the Republic of Korea is Russia's third largest partner in Asia by trade turnover. In 2017, import and export volumes between the two countries increased by 41% to almost $19bn.

International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM has been held annually in Ekaterinburg since 2010. In 2012, the federal status was conferred upon the exhibition by the Government of the Russian Federation. Event participants include over 600 companies from 105 countries. During 4 exhibition days, INNOPROM-2017 attracted over 50,000 visitors, more than 60% of them professionals. All global industrial leaders participate in the exhibition. Italy, Germany, India, Japan, and other countries regularly present their national exhibits. In 2017, INNOPROM launched the National Buyer Industrial Export Development Program (IndEx), which brought 200 professional buyers of industrial products to Ekaterinburg.
