On 10th June 2014 the INNOPROM International Industry Exhibition hosted a Round Table event entitled “Russian & Arabic Business Dialogue” - organized in collaboration with Russo-Arabian Business Council.
The topic for the event was the development of industrial infrastructure as part of future cooperation between Arabic states and Russia. This is the second time that the Round Table has been held, against the background of new impetus in establishing business contacts with the Near East and North Africa – to establish a platform for joint accomplishment of collaborative projects, and to discuss the opportunities for Russian high-tech exports to the Arabic world.
Currently the volumes of copper exported from Russia to the Arab world have shot up by ten times – from one billion dollars, to 14 billion dollars. Today the potential of Russo-Arabic business relations is enjoying a very active development. The most important aspect of this development is to see it followed through in equal measure in all the Arabic countries.
Mr Hassan Santissi, the Chairman of the Association of Exporters of Morocco (ASMEX), and Head of the Morocco-Russian Trade Council addressed his remarks to Russian investors. “Around 3-4 years ago, Morocco practically reinvented itself, as the “Gateway to the Arab World”. Businesses can trade with 56 African nations through Morocco, and I would like to let Russian investors know that they can invest their funds not only in Morocco itself, but in many different African countries with Morocco's assistance”.
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Trade Relations of Sverdlovsk Region, Mr Vladimir Solovarov, said in reply:
“I would like to say that currently in Sverdlovsk Region we have commercial interaction with 152 different countries from both the former Soviet Union and the wider world. The organizational methodology and legislation for such trade remain the basis for economic activity, industrial production and heavy industry”.
