Growing Demand for Innovations in Mid Urals

The Governor Alexander Misharin and Viktor Vekselberg looked at the exhibition stands of the Skolkovo Foundation and the Ural Federal University.

The UrFU has been working in close cooperation with the Skolkovo Foundation since autumn 2010, especially in the areas of energy saving, IT, pharmaceuticals, and nuclear medicine. The project of the establishment of communications platform for the support of Skolkovo's projects in the Mid Urals will be implemented at the UrFU. “I disagree with those saying that there is no demand for innovations in Russia. Even the example of the Sverdlovsk Oblast makes it clear that it is not true. We are an old industrial region and metallurgy has always been the region’s most important industry. Now, however, the machine building, instrument building, and pharmaceuticals are developing at a faster rate and these spheres are consumers of innovations. The whole range of various developments is following in the wake of the Information Society project. In my opinion Skolkovo is a very important pilot project which will affect the course of the development of our Region.”
