The biggest Japanese trucks’ producer from Toyota Group is going to localize production in the Russian Federation.
Head of Sales and Development of Hino Motors Sales Yury Zorin has said that this decision will be taken after the sales volume of trucks in Russia reaches 5000 cars per year.
By 2016 this volume will have been achieved, according to the global development plan of the company. In 2012 the Japanese company sold about 2000 trucks, in 2013 Hino intends to increase the sales volume to 2400 trucks.
Hino can launch its own production in Russia either autonomously or in partnership, like the Russian Sollers and Japanese Isuzu companies. Yury Zorin admits that Hino is in search of the right region for the new manufacture. Actually, the company considers an option for launching two manufactures in Russia: in the Far East for the medium duty trucks and in the central part of the country for the light duty trucks.
The principal competitor of Hino in the Russian market is Huindai. According to the previous year’s data from European Business Association the Korean company is leading the segment of trucks (6-16 tonnes), Hino ranks third – after Mitsubishi-Fuso.
